Knowing there is the possibility of descendants of Georgeanna “Georgia” Wade McClellan existing today in 2025/2026 is fascinating to the author. The story of the Civil War and first-hand accounts of what happened during the battle of Gettysburg and the death of Jennie Wade passed down through family words, letters, and bibles. Let’s explore more into the family of Jim Britton McClellan.

The third child of Georgianna and John is that of James Britton McClellan, but he was the first born in Iowa. His nickname was Jim. They grew up in a small community in the 1870-1900, where the population of Denison grew from 300 citizens to 2800. He would marry his wife, Ala May Kenny on January 1st, 1891 in Boone County, Nebraska. They would have numerous children together, and their children as well. Now, in the 21st century, the descendants of Georgia Wade McClellan continues with the descendants from James Britton McClellan.
Like many Gettysburg residents that would pass away, they are in Evergreen Cemetery. With this section of the family tree residing under Jim Britton McClellan and Ala Mary Kenny McClellan, their story would end within the Oakland Cemetery, outside Denison, Iowa. Note, the cemetery in Iowa are in the process of renovations to make it to better serve their visitors and community. This cemetery was created in 1861.
There are two face-book pages that talk about the McClellan family trees and pictures. The first was shut down around the time of COVID in 2020. It explained some of the McClellan historical background with pictures from the descendants. The second face-book page was created by the author, even though I have no connection with the McClellan family history.
