This month was the start of the creation of the majority of the states beginning to come together to join as the Confederate States of America 165 years ago. By February 1st, the states in order would have seceded from the Union. The Confederate flag below was mainly used between 1861 and 1863, prior to the stainless banner with the crossed rails. The following states that seceded are:
South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas.
