Exploring Gettysburg

Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center

Explore the Museum and learn about the Civil War with a 20 minute video narrated by Morgan Freeman, and then explore the vast amount of stories and artifacts left behind from the battle.

Be sure to explore the Cyclorama inside the museum, and see the graphics and wonder how it was created. 

Before leaving the museum, be sure to stop into the bookstore and see what narrators if you may need for the rest of your trip around town. 

If time permits, go on a tour with a Park Ranger, or go on a 1-2 hour battlefield walk.

Exploring Monuments

Most monuments on the battlefield are three to four sided. Get out of your car and explore them.  

Some monuments your allowed to walk into, up and view the battlefield from the top on Little Round Top and the Pennsylvania Monument. 

This picture, taken in 1924, ,shows a road for old T-model cars to drive up Little Round Top behind then 12th & 44th New York monument.
