Knowing there is the possibility of descendants of Georgeanna “Georgia” Wade McClellan existing still today in 2025/2026 is fascinating to the author. The story of the Civil War and first-hand accounts of what happened during the battle of Gettysburg and the death of Jennie Wade passed down through family words, letters, and bibles. Let’s explore more into the family of Jim Britton McClellan.
Mr. James “Jim” Britton McClellan was the third child of Georgia and John Louis McClellan. He was the first child to be born in Denison, Iowa, in 1867. He grew up in Ward 1-3 in the northern outskirts of the small community. Little is known about Jim growing up, but I’d assume he was helpful within the family and took care of his brothers and sisters. They grew up in a small community in the 1870-1900, where the population of Denison grew from 300 citizens to 2800.
Jim took to finding a family and married Ala Mary Kenny, in Boone County, Nebraska, on January 1, 1891.

However, their children has the history that presents all their family memories that continue into the 21st century. They had all their children between 1891-1910, with a total of 16-18 kids. With these memories from all their children, a few descendants continue from this son. This face-book link just talks about the family of the McClellan’s to see their history in one common area. There was another link that was shut down in 2020 that I think was updated by family members. Most of their children have pictures to link with the family members. Some members served in the military to continue to family traditions of serving for their country while others passed away suddenly in weird ways.

Sadly, some of them didn’t reach the age to walk. It was an awkward time where there was multiple families that their children didn’t live past the age of two. In Jim and Ala Mary situation, that was the case as well. Here are the children below that died at a very young age, in order of their births: 3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th, 13th, and 17th child are listed below. It is unsure why Ala died at such a young age.
