Abel Peck Letter - June 18, 1863


Here is a letter from color sergeant Abel Peck for the famous 24th Michigan, Company C. This letter was written on June 18th. On July 1st, as the 24th rushed onto the Railroad Cut to meet advancing Confederates, a shot hit Able and killed him. He was the first color bearer to die that day, along with seven more by the end of the day.
