24th Michigan - Color Corporal Bellore
Born in Canada, Charles Bellore was a labour by trade. He moved to Detroit, Michigan, and enlisted in Company F on August 11, 1862. He signed three year enlistment papers within the 24th Michigan. When arriving into Gettysburg, Corporal Bellore was wounded in the left portion of the chest during the afternoon. He was wounded during the 2nd line of battle at McPherson's Ridge. He was killed in action after picking up the regiment flag from his fallen comrade Sergeant Abel Peck. He may be one of the unknowns in the Soldier's National Cemetery.
